Description:

A pale-brown seed with fine, light-colored ribs. Other common names are aniseed and sweet cumin. It smells and taste like mild licorice, sweet. In the Middle East and India, it is used in breads and savory dishes. In Europe, it flavors cakes, breads, cookies and sweet fruit dishes. It is used in a number of licorice-flavored alcohols like ouzo, pastis, anisette, and pernod.
