Description: | Tiny hard blue-grey or cream colored seeds. Both varieties of black and white poppy seeds have a sweet aroma and mild nutty flavor. Though derived from the opium poppy, the seeds have virtually no narcotic content. Used in many European dishes in cakes, pastries, sprinkled on breads, buns, pretzels, and biscuits, strudels, and noodles. White poppy seed is used in India for flavoring and thickening curries. |
