Description: | One of the most widely used spices, most people are familiar with the black, white, green, and pink peppercorn. Black is by far the most popular with a dark-brown to jet black, wrinkled skin and has a warm, pungent flavor. White peppercorn have a creamy white smooth surface and a less aromatic but sharper, hotter taste. Green peppercorn has a light aroma and fresh pungency. Pink peppercorns are the fully ripe fruit and have a sweet, ripe fruity taste. Pink peppercorn also refers to the pink berries of the South American tree (Schinus terebinthifolius) which is more commonly sold in place of true pink peppercorn. Pepper is used to flavor many savory dishes or used at the table. |
