Vanilla

Other Names:

Vanilla planifolia or Vanilla tahensis

Description:

The major vanilla growing regions are Madagascar, Indonesia, and Mexico where they specialize in vanilla planifolia. This is the vanilla we commonly know in the US but vanilla tahensis or tahitian vanilla is rising in popularity. Vanilla tahensis is commonly grown Tahiti and Papau New Guinea and has a nice floral scent.

For vanilla planifolia, we offer beans from Madagascar, Papua New Guinea and Tonga. The traditional Madagascar beans have a wonderful familiar aroma and flavor. The beans from Papua New Guinea is a shorter bean bursting with vanilla flavors. The beans from Tonga are longer with an oilier finish and rivals the Madagascar beans in flavor and potency.

For vanilla tahensis, we offer the traditional beans from Tahiti and beans from Papua New Guinea.

For the Madagascar, we offer both whole beans and ground beans. Ground beans are great for smoothies, baked goods and even sauces or dressings for both savory dishes and salads.
